Character A has noticed a weird trend when it comes to their interactions with supernatural creatures; for whatever reason, no matter the species, they're always mistaken as a member of that species, even though they're just a normal human.

Unbeknownst to Character A, however, they happen to be a system, and each member of their system is a different supernatural creature! This sets off the instinctual "same species" recognition of those they meet, even though their body is, again, only human.

What shenanigans arise from this? And how does Character/System A figure out what's going on?

Bonus: System A's headmates are in the (unknowing) habit of fronting around members of their own species, which only adds to the confusion. For example, their vampire headmate tends to front around other vampires, while their werewolf headmate tends to front around other werewolves.

Werewolf therian.

Therian: An individual who is integrally an animal or otherwise a non-sapient and/or animalistic nonhuman being. Werewolf: Also known as lycanthrope, is an individual who can shape-shift into a wolf.

Just so other people can use it and I don't lose it, pft.

→ Why did you make this?

Good question. I am not a werewolf, but I am a wolf and a polymorph. My headmate, Cyrus, is a werewolf in headspace, which in we share a body in, which makes some situations feel very...werewolf, if that makes sense. So, I am technically living the life of a werewolf, I'm a silly pseudo-werewolf!

That was the serious answer, the silly answer is I am a wolf and one of my fictotypes is a human that is wolf-werewolf coded. Wolf + Human? Werewolf!

→ Why Therian?

Our experiences as a werewolf is much more animalistic, we are an animal. Despite having generally a sapient mind, it's twisted and effected in such a way that animal instincts reign our way of thinking and viewing the world. When we transform into a wolf, we are a wolf. Even when we aren't in the form of one, we are still a wolf, a much more anthropomorphic one but we are a wolf.

We have a much similar thinking as what is narrated in naturalist animal xenofiction, a good example is White Fang (1906) and Fox and The Hound (1967). That despite it's best attempts of interpretating an animal's mind to the less anthropomorphic and most realistic it can conjure, it will always be going through the filter of a sapient mind.

→ Who can use this?

Basically anyone who feels it fits, but here's a few examples:

↪ Werewolfkin whose wolf, non-wolf or both form are much more animalistic and borderline, or totally non-sapient.

↪ Therians who are both human and animalistic wolves, therefore feeling like a werewolves' experience fits them. ↪ System members that are animalistic wolves in headspace, yet meatspace being human or not a wolf. So it feels as if you 'transform' every time you front. ↪ System members that are werewolves and feel as if the therian experience explain their experiences due to the nature of how their lycanthropy works. ↪ System members that are either werewolves or wolves and in-between being an extranth and therian, yet lean more towards therian.

Alterhuman, Therian, Otherkin, and Extranth as the most broad categories

Wren: Housecat therian, anymic otherkin, cryptid conceptkin, werewolf cambitherian (fluid between kin and hearted)

Etsai: Demonkin, Tiefling Extranthrope

Pretty much everyone else: Extranthrope

3/ Do you experience shifts? If so, can you tell us your most common shifts and your strangest cameo shift (if you've ever had a cameo shift)?

we experience phantom shifts the most. For Wren their common shifts are spinal spikes, claws, fangs, and fur. Rune has a prominent muzzle phantom shift. Don't exactly remember everyone's right now. Strangest cameo shift was a very strong full body sea monster shift, kinda like in Luca.

4/ How do you experience your alterhumanity in everyday life?

Phantom shifts, mental shifts, some instincts and noises we make

5/ What do you think of the community?

The modern alterhuman community tends to skew very young, but so does much of the identity based communities online. Therian and otherkin specific communities tend to skew older and I appreciate their wisdom, their essays how i figured myself out. I think the modern community places a lot of importance on physical aspects of alterhumanity like quads and gear, which I think is a mistake, personally.

6/ What are the things that make you most comfortable and euphoric in your alterhumanity?

Wearing my therian necklace, being able to act like my kintypes, making animalistic noises

7/ Are you experiencing species dysphoria?

We get mild species dysphoria like "oh it's disappointing that I don't have fur" which varies some from headmate to headmate

8/ What advice would you like to say to a young alterhuman who has just awakened?

Don't force yourself into categories just to be in categories, and don't be afraid to say that you were wrong.

9/ Do you have/want to have gears?

Like... one piece? Or like the metal rotate-y bits? Because none of us want either.

Update: just realized you meant like therian gear. We have a necklace that has the therian symbol on it. Ears and a tail would be nice, but I think a furred jacket so I can have fur on my arms would help the most and look awesome

10/ Do you know/have any theories about the origin of your alterhumanity? If so, tell us! (all beliefs are legitimate)

For everyone except Wren, it kinda came as a prepackaged deal because most had nonhuman sources or that's just how they came into being. For Wren they mainly believe most of it either comes from imprinting (housecat and werewolf mainly) or a quirk of their consciousness.
